About

The Alpha Delta Pi chapter at The University of Tennessee is dedicated to our university, our community, and more importantly each other.

The Alpha Kappa chapter of ΑΔΠ was founded at The University of Tennessee in 1920. Before the sorority received its charter, our founding members originally met in the basement of the female dormitory, Humes Hall. Nationally, Alpha Delta Pi was founded seventy years earlier, on May 15, 1851, at Wesleyan Female College in Macon, Georgia.

Alpha Delta Pi holds the distinction of being the first secret society for women and the mother of today’s sorority system. We were founded on the principles of scholarship, leadership, service to others and sisterhood. These principles still guide the policies and programs of the sorority today.
